Masandawana will play either Orlando Pirates or Stellenbosch in the tournament's showpiece game in October after a 3-2 win on aggregate after two legs of the semifinals.
Following a 1-1 draw in the first-leg at FNB Stadium, Sundowns were gifted the lead from the kick off on when Shalulile closed down Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Peterson and found the back of the net after just 10 seconds.
It was the perfect start to the contest for the Brazilians but Chiefs responded brilliantly and won a penalty after on the half-hour mark when Sipho Mbule handled the ball in the area.
Ashley Du Preez stepped up and converted the spot-kick past Ronwen Williams as Amakhosi's good work was rewarded.
All that work however was undone in first-half stoppage time when the Chiefs defence allowed Lucas Ribeiro space inside the box and the Brazilian found Shalulile at the far-post, with the forward burying his header in the back of the net.
The Soweto giants came out with more attacking purpose after the interval knowing they only needed one more strike to advance to the final on away goals and were giving the Sundowns defence plenty to think about.
Du Preez drew a fine save from Williams when the Amakhosi forward was on the end of a cut-back into the box but the shot-stopper saved from point-blank range.
There was late drama when Chiefs thought they should have been given a penalty as Thapelo Maseko brought down Mduduzi Mdantsane but the referee waved play on.
