As reported by SABC Sport, the 20-year-old jetted out to Ukraine topflight outfit Dynamo Kyiv for trials this week with the hopes of moving abroad this month.
Sanoka believes Okon is ready to leave the PSL.
"I spoke to him even two hours back before I came here and the only thing I said to him is that the only way he can be successful in life is to remain humble and work hard. I had the privilege to work with him, so I know his capabilities,” Sanoka said.
“So, for me, I think he will make a great defender and yeah, hopefully, one day he'll remind me of what I used to tell him because every time I play with him at training I kept on reminding him how good he was, how good he is, which things he must improve at and what he must focus a lot on. I think he will become one of the best defenders we've ever seen."
The young centre back remains eligible to play for either Bafana Bafana or Nigeria because of his parents’ background.
Sanoka says he’s desperate to see Okon feature for South Africa.
"I think we have been fighting for that because I also used to ask him the same question and he said to me any opportunity that appears, any opportunity that comes to the table but his willingness is to try and maybe get the cap for South Africa because he said to me that Nigeria is a bit difficult for him to play for a PSL team and just get in there,” he added.
“So, yeah, I think maybe one day he wants to see himself wearing the national team shirt."
