PSL clubs put Gabadinho Mhango on their radar

Several local clubs have put striker Gabadinho Mhango on their radar with his future to be decided following the Moroka Swallows takeover.

The Malawian international is still contracted to the club, now officially Marumo Gallants after chairman Abram Sello bought the topflight status last month and the Premier Soccer League [PSL] executive committee approving the sale.

SABC Sport has been informed that Mhango is expected back at training this week, where coach Dylan Kerr is assessing the squad of players that were still under contract at The Dube Birds prior to the ownership changing hands.

It’s understood the 31-year-old is not short of potential suitors that would be willing to add him to their squad ahead of the new season should Gallants be open to selling given the changes currently underway.

Chippa United and Richards Bay are believed to be interested in Mhango, who had been away in his native country enjoying a break.

The former Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu and Golden Arrows forward finished the previous season as the Swallows leading marksman with seven goals from 24 DStv Premiership games – playing a huge role helping the club avoid relegation.

Although that was not enough to earn him a call up back to the Malawi national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Sáo Tome and Equatorial Guinea, the door remains open for Mhango to return.

Gallants will hold a press conference in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning to elaborate on the way forward after the takeover was concluded.
