Gallants relegated after loss to Swallows
Marumo Gallants were relegated from the PSL after a 2-0 defeat against Swallows at the Dobsonville stadium on Saturday.
The visitors needed a positive result to overtake Maritzburg at the foot of the table on the final day but conceded twice.
A brace from Tshediso Patjie, who netted in first half injury-time and in the 81st minute, means Swallows end the campaign in eighth place.
Patjie opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime before racing clear on the counter-attack with nine minutes remaining to seal the three points.
Chippa United draw with Golden Arrows to maintain PSL status
Chippa will spend another season in South Africa's top-flight after playing out a nervy goalless draw against Golden Arrows at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.
With Marumo Gallants on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss at the hands of Swallows, the Chilli Boy got the point they needed to maintain their PSL status on goal difference from Maritzburg.
Arrows threw everything forward in the closing stages as a win would have meant a top-eight finish but they were met with stubborn defence from the home team.
Richards Bay and Royal AM play to goalless stalemate
Richards Bay recorded the point they needed against Royal AM at the King Zwelithini stadium to make sure they spend another at least season in the PSL.
The hosts were forced to play the final stages of the contest with only 10 men after Sanele Barns was shown a red card by the referee in the 83rd minute.
Supersport settle for third after slipping up at Sekhukhune
Supersport United missed out on a chance at CAF Champions League football at the expense of Orlando Pirates after wrapping up their campaign with a disappointing 1-0 loss at Sekhukhune United.
It was a straight shoot-out between Supersport and United on the final day of the season with second place on the table and the final CAF Champions League spot up for grabs.
However, Supersport fell behind early against Sekhukhune following a goal from Ghanaian midfielder Edwin Gyimah and were never able to respond and get back in the match.
In the end, the defeat did not matter as Pirates signed off with an emphatic 4-0 win at AmaZulu that meant they could not be overtaken in second place.
Stellenbosch secure top-eight spot at TS Galaxy's expense
Stellenbosch made sure they did not surrender their top-eight spot on the final day of the season after beating TS Galaxy 2-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium.
The Rockets still had a chance of snatching a top-eight spot if they signed off with a victory away from home but it was not to be.
Devon Titus gave Stellenbosch the lead in the 16th minute from a Fawaaz Basadien free-kick, but Galaxy would equalise via midfielder Lindokuhle Mbatha early in the second half.
However, parity lasted barely a minute when Argentine striker Junior Leandro Mendieta put the home side back in front, with Basadien again providing the assist for the headed goal.
The victory sees Stellenbosch finish in sixth place on the table with 40 points, with Galaxy ending up in 10th with 35.
