Having already invested £113 million on Jude Bellingham this summer, the Spanish giants are now setting their sights on securing another one of Europe's exceptional young players, the 18-year-old Guler.
Impressing with his remarkable performances for Fenerbahce, Guler showcased his skills in 34 matches, amassing an impressive tally of six goals and seven assists, propelling his team to a runner-up finish in the Super Lig, second only to Galatasaray. Notably, Guler was awarded the Man of the Match title for his pivotal role in Fenerbahce's triumphant 2-0 victory over Basaksehir in the Turkish Cup Final.
Marca reports that Madrid's attention has been captivated by Guler's displays, with his contract featuring a release clause enabling his acquisition for as little as £16 million. Madrid, however, are not the sole admirer of the midfield maestro. Guler has previously garnered interest from Barcelona, while Liverpool, AC Milan, and Benfica have also been meticulously tracking his progress.
Sevilla, who faced Guler during the previous season's Europa League, were eager to secure his services, yet it now appears that Madrid could emerge as the teenager's next destination. Guler's signing would align seamlessly with Madrid's recent recruitment strategy, characterized by significant investments in young prodigies.
In addition to their acquisition of Bellingham this summer, Madrid have demonstrated a keen eye for young talent in recent seasons, securing the likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, and Endrick, along with Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Despite his tender age, Guler has already earned four caps for the Turkish national team and recently netted his first international goal against Wales.
His exceptional style of play and exceptional ball control have drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi, who is set to join Inter Miami, leading to Guler earning the well-deserved moniker of 'The Turkish Messi'.
