Report: Chelsea poised to capture Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid

Chelsea have sealed a deal with Atletico Madrid to sign Joao Felix in a swap deal with midfielder Conor Gallagher to transfer to the Spanish club.

Felix, the Portugal international, previously spent six months on loan at Stamford Bridge starting in January 2023 before spending the last season at Barcelona. According to reports, Chelsea have agreed to an initial £42 million fee with Atletico Madrid, with the 24-year-old expected to sign a six-year contract.

Felix was notably absent from Atletico Madrid's squad for Monday night's La Liga match against Villarreal, with a medical examination reportedly scheduled for Tuesday.

While Chelsea has not yet commented on the reports, Felix's impending arrival could clear the way for Gallagher to complete his move to Atletico. The deal had stalled after Chelsea's attempt to sign Samu Omorodion fell through.

Chelsea, who lost their Premier League opener 2-0 to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, are also reported to have received a formal offer from Napoli for striker Romelu Lukaku.
