Report: Man Utd agree deal for teenage talent Diego Leon

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign teenage Paraguayan talent Diego Leon as manager Ruben Amorim's first transfer.

This marks a promising step towards the club's future planning, despite the recent struggles under Amorim's leadership.

The Red Devils have only won one Premier League match since his appointment, with a disappointing loss to Nottingham Forest last Saturday further intensifying the pressure on the manager.

In addition to the on-pitch challenges, the club recently saw the departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth, who left after just a few months. His exit has added to the growing sense of uncertainty at Old Trafford.

Despite these setbacks, United are preparing for a busy transfer window in January.

With financial restrictions in place, the club are looking to make significant signings, although player sales will likely be necessary to fund these acquisitions. Players like Antony and Marcus Rashford have been mentioned as potential departures.

While the club navigate these challenges, the reported signing of Leon, who has been reported to cost between $4 million and $6 million, offers a glimmer of optimism for the future.

"Can confirm left-back Diego Leon will officially join Manchester United in June 2025, once he turns 18, for a transfer fee of around $6m," Paraguayan football expert Roberto Rojas wrote.

"Leon will play at Cerro Porteno for 6 more months before becoming the first ever Paraguayan to play for the Red Devils."
