A decision on the fixture has been pending for some time now as Thwihli Thwahla continue to be embroiled in a legal battle with SARS over returning to play – the saga has left them seven Betway Premiership matches behind.
Royal AM were initially scheduled to face their KwaZulu-Natal rivals Milford FC a month ago in the opening round of the tournament.
With the club under the SARS curatorship and at risk of being either sold or liquidated, there were no assurance they could honour the fixture.
A month later the PSL has finally opted to expel them and arrange a last 16 clash between Milford and Sekhukhune on Sunday.
Babina Noko were scheduled to host Royal AM in the league, but with the latter having their games postponed indefinitely Sekhukhune and Milford have agreed to battle it out at the Princess Magogo Stadium this weekend.
The winner will take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals.
SABC Sport first broke the news on the popular Monday night review show Soccer Zone and it’s understood now that there is a court date penciled in for 13 March between SARS and Royal AM.
The revenue services want to recoup a R40-million tax debt that is also tied to club president Shauwn Mkhize’s family trust and have so far been given permission to sell or liquidate the PSL franchise.
