The Brazilians made it five straight wins in all competitions when attacker Aubrey Modiba and an own goal from defender Justice Tshabalala saw them overcome the Chilli Boys in Gqeberha.
Mokwena believes it was a strong display.
"I thought it was a good performance. I thought we played very, very well considering so many of these possibilities. We've got so many games at this moment. We don't get enough training time so there's a lot of video analysis and so that's why I'm very, very proud of the players because it's not easy to do what they are doing," Mokwena said.
Mokwena was asked for his opinion on the much publicised comments from his Chippa counterpart Morgan Mammila, who had promised a spectacle against Sundowns in trying to end their dominance.
"On the talks before, I don't want to say anything. No comments from me. There's different rules for different coaches. So, I have a different set of rules. I don't have to speak too much because anything I say is either misunderstood, deliberately so sometimes. So, I would rather not say anything and congratulate my players," Mokwena added.
Although Sundowns appeared to slow down the tempo of the game in the second half, Mokwena feels the game never got away from them.
"We played with a lot more control in the second half. We tried to minimise counterattacks. When you are a little bit more aggressive and they've got the speed that they have when they introduced Lebitso [Thabiso].
Thabiso is fast, Mulenga [Augustine], Ndwandwe [Menzi] is very aggressive to cause problems. So, you have to be very, very careful of turnovers because you are going to suffer counterattacks.
So, not really interested in that statistic, it means absolutely nothing."
