Rushwin Dortley ready to go head-on with Mamelodi Sundowns’ deadly trio

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana international centre-back Rushwin Dortley is readying himself to come against the deadly attack trio of the Mamelodi Sundowns, Lucas Ribeiro, Peter Shalulile and Iqraam Rayners.

The three strikers have scored a combined 25 goals to the 46 that Sundowns have scored in the league this season in 19 matches.

In almost every league game Sundowns have played this season, one of the strikers has contributed to goals. But Dortley doesn’t seem to fear them.

"They are all good players but at the end of the day if they are good in scoring and you're good in defending, if you on the day bring your best game like they bring their best game, it's head on,” Dortley said.

“So, it's just for all of us on that day to bring out A-game, bring what the management saw in order to bring us here, bring that game out of yourself, push yourself and then I think we'll go head on.”

A lot is at stake for Chiefs when they come up against the runaway log leaders and defending Betway Premiership champions.

Another factor in this game is that Chiefs, unlike in the first round, is coming with a better firepower upfront following the arrival of Godly Lilepo, Tashreeq Morris and Thabo Cele in the midfield.

Dortley rates this trio very highly.

"Yeah, all three of them are very good players in their own positions but with Tashreeq coming in with a high press, sometimes it helps us at the back you know some teams in the PSL just kick the ball to the keeper, kick to the striker but with his press, that helps us at the back to get calm a bit and help the midfielders also by not dropping back too far for the long ball,” he added.

“Lilepo, he's been scoring and he's very good in his position and that's what we want for players to come, attack us. Tashreeq also score, produce some great chances, assist, that's what we want from the players and Thabo in the midfield, he's been amazing so far.

“It's just for them to keep on doing what they've been doing and help the team."
