Ruud van Nistelrooy: Man Utd have momentum ahead of Leicester game

Manchester United travel to the King Power Stadium on Sunday night to face Leicester City in a crucial Premier League encounter.

United, currently 14th in the league, have struggled for consistency this season, winning just nine of their 28 matches.

Manager Ruben Amorim, who took charge in November 2024, initially failed to spark an immediate turnaround but has since steadied the ship.

A 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League helped boost confidence, and the Red Devils have since progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition.

With a top-four finish now seemingly out of reach - United sit 15 points behind the Champions League spots - their only realistic route back to Europe's elite competition is by winning the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are in the midst of a relegation battle under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Foxes have failed to win in their last five league outings and are six points from safety. A result against United would be vital in their fight for survival.

"It's a great boost [for them] they are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League," said Van Nistelrooy during his press conference on Friday.

"Bruno [Fernandes] is in great form, so he is very decisive in that team. It's a team which has some momentum going, so they are in a better place than when we played them in the FA Cup."
