Scandal-hit Peter Hyballa resigns at Sekhukhune United

On Saturday night Sekhukhune United announced the resignation of their newly appointed coach, Peter Hyballa but SABC Sport understands that it may be due to allegations of misconduct.

Hyballa resigned from his job before coaching in an official match following allegations of misconduct, which included a sex scandal around the German-born coach.

When SABC Sport approached Sekhukhune United about reports of Hyballa’s impending departure, an excuse of waiting for a work permit was given as a reason.

Sekhukhune's interim coach David Makhubedu again used this excuse after losing to Cape Town City 1-0 in the MTN8, when asked about Hyballa’s absence on the bench.

"I think that's for another day, I will answer that on another day. I think he's right because currently where we are sitting and for these 90 minutes that was it. I think with the coach it's the issue of work permit for now," Mahubedu said.

SABC Sport also understands that a compromising video was shared with the club, which led to the allegations of misconduct against Hyballa.

Besides this video, Hyballa was also said not on good terms with the players, and the departure of the trusted video analyst Tinashe Shingai Mukandatsama to Mamelodi Sundowns is also alleged to have been a result of a fallout with Hyballa.

Makhubedu was still holding on to the work permit excuse, despite Hyballa having not coached the team in their last three training sessions before yesterday’s game.

"There's nothing wrong with that, addressing me as a head coach for this game. Interim and head coach, at the end of the day, on that 90 minutes you are the one leading the sheep. So, he's addressing me for this game, I think our coach is still having problems with the work permit," he added.

Sekhukhune United’s former head coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, who is currently attending a CAF A license refresher course in his home country (Lesotho), is widely reported to return to the club, just less than six weeks after he was released from his contract after a fallout with the management of Babina Noko.
