Babina Noko are in the market for someone who can potentially strongly compete with their first choice Ali Sangare, the Ivorian who won this year’s Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] with his native country in February.
Sangare missed a handful of matches for Sekhukhune last season and when he was unavailable or named as an unused substitute it was Renaldo Leaner who stood in his place in both Premier Soccer League and CAF Confederation Cup fixtures.
It is believed, however, that Babina Noko are looking ahead and want a goalkeeper that can potentially take over from Sangare.
The Cote d’Ivoire shot stopper turned 38 last month, while Chippa United keeper Kazapua is 35-year-old and probably not a long-term replacement either.
Kazapua has been in camp with the Namibian national team here in South Africa where The Brave Warriors have been forced to play their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to their own home venue being deemed unfit to host any official games.
He joined the Chilli Boys in 2021, but lost his place as the preferred choice to his Nigerian counterpart Stanley Nwabali, who has also been linked with rival DStv Premiership sides as well as a move abroad in the coming window.
Should Sekhukhune go ahead to pursue – and seal – the deal with Chippa for Kazapua, this begs the question over whether the Chilli Boys would be willing to transfer their two best goalkeepers ahead of the 2-24/25 campaign.
