Banyana Banyana international Jermaine Seoposenwe revealed her move to Mexico three months ago was not initially planned.

The 29-year-old spent the previous two years at Portuguese outfit Braga, but when negotiations for an extension dragged on, her agent secured a contract in France before South Africa's victory at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in July.

œI was actually supposed to go to Bourdeaux, contracts were all signed, and I had my pre-contract signed, literally like around April, very early. I had everything done, [I] was about to go. I was even going to French lessons as well in Portugal. I mean I wanted to stay at Braga, first of all, but negotiations didn't go as I wanted them to, she confessed.

œI had offers from Sporting, from Boudreaux, before I came to AWC. And the Mexico deal was not even on the table yet at that point. I was like 'cool, I'm going to Beurdeaux', I've always wanted to play in the French League, it was going to be a cool opportunity I was going to play with some of the best players in the French league

In the end,  Seoposenwe joined Juarez as finances dashed her long-held dream of playing in one of the world's most recognised leagues for men's and women™s football. Bordeaux couldn™t afford her services unless she took a hefty pay cut.

œTheir men's team got relegated, and the budget for the entire team, men and women, was just cut in half. I mean I was willing to take, not a significant pay cut, but you know, a pay cut, because I still wanted to go there.

However, then he came back and he was like 'you might have to a more significant pay cut than what you were planning on', and I was like, 'No, I don't think I'm going to do that,' especially going to France, Bordeaux is an expensive city to live in and all these things", she said.

After declining an offer from Sporting, she received a proposal from Mexico, despite her desire to remain in Europe, with Juarez making an offer she couldn™t refuse as their marquee signing, a week before the striker was an integral part of Banyana™s campaign.
