Serhou Guirassy nets four as Borussia Dortmund crush Union Berlin

Serhou Guirassy netted four goals to guide Borussia Dortmund to a resounding 6-0 victory over Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday, marking their first league win under new coach Niko Kovac.

The Guinea international scored a remarkable hat-trick in just eight minutes late in the second half, bringing his league total to 13 goals. He has also scored 10 goals in the Champions League, where Dortmund will face Lille in the Round of 16 next month.

This win was a much-needed one for the hosts, who had lost their last two league matches under Kovac and were only securing their second victory in the last eight games. They moved up to 10th place with 32 points.

"I'm just happy that we finally won a league game, and the way we did it was also pleasing," Kovac, who took over in late January, said at a press conference.

"I'm not important in this. I'm just one part of the team. We won a league game, and that's what matters. There will be no grand celebrations," Kovac added.

"We have important matches ahead in both the league and the Champions League, and that's where our focus will be."

Dortmund took the lead in the 25th minute when Julian Ryerson's shot was deflected into his own net by Union's Diogo Leite.

"We were a bit sluggish at the start, but after the first 15 minutes, we found our rhythm, and the own goal helped us relax," Kovac explained.

Dortmund came close to adding a second just minutes later, but Maximilian Beier's header hit the crossbar. They got it right in the 40th minute when Guirassy rose to head home a Pascal Gross cross.

Guirassy doubled his tally in the 75th minute with a close-range finish before completing his hat-trick in the 80th, pushing the ball over the line after a fine assist from Beier.

With Union's defense in disarray, Guirassy scored his fourth in the 83rd minute, heading in another Gross cross. Beier then capped the dominant performance with a goal in the 90th minute to secure the 6-0 win.
