Solomons: Why I chose Chiefs

One of Kaizer Chiefs™ latest recruits is eager to finally make his debut this weekend, telling SABC Sport that Amakhosi were the ideal club for the next move in his career.

The Glamour Boys signed Dillan Solomons from fellow Soweto rivals Swallows FC on a four-year contract, the player choosing Amakhosi because of a new project being undertaken by sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr and coach Arthur Zwane.

Both Royal AM and Orlando Pirates pursued the 23-year-old, but in the end Chiefs won the race for his signature.

Solomons could feature in his first game away to AM in their DStv Premiership opener on Saturday evening.

"The chiefs were in rebuilding phase and the way that they were rebuilding I felt like I could fit in here, and basically it™s a big brand so for me to be playing for Chiefs it will mean a lot for me-not just me and my family too.

"I don™t think it has really sunk in as yet but this is a big a occasion for me even just being here with fans that means a lot to me. I don™t think sunk in as yet maybe at the first game when I step out or if I get the opportunity in the first game it will really sink in said Solomons.

It™s been several weeks now since leaving the Dube Birds to join Chiefs in pre-season. Solomons says he has "settled-in very well" and gives credit to the players who welcomed him.

What obviously attracted all three clubs - Chiefs, Pirates and AM - to Solomons is his work rate and versatility.

He wants to build from what got him the big move in the first place.

"Basically I like to work hard whether it™s a simple small session I will my everything whenever I have the opportunity to train or even just play a friendly game so I think that hear and desire to want to play i think it will help me a lot this season" he added.

While his role at Chiefs will be clearer over time, Solomons was primarily used as a right back at Swallows by coach Dylan Kerr.

The former 100m sprinter believes that is his best position.

The opening game will set the tone for Solomons and his new teammates, and he adds that the side coached by John Maduka won™t just roll over.
