The TS Galaxy forward was one of the standout performers for The Rockets during the 2023/24 season in which the club finished sixth in the DStv Premiership – their best ever since their entry to the topflight.
Mojela, 27, was signed from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars in the second tier a year ago to help beef up the side coached by Sead Ramovic following the sale of more than seven key players.
With Stellies heading into the CAF Confederation Cup in August after clinching third place in the league behind champions Sundowns and runners-up Orlando Pirates, the expectation is to add to their squad numbers.
CEO Rob Benadie confirmed to the public broadcaster they were keen on bringing Mojela on board should all parties involved agree terms.
“We are interested in exploring this [Mojela transfer] and other options, but there’s no deal as yet,” he told SABC Sport.
However, the side from The Winelands might have to fight off their rivals Sundowns for the player’s signature, especially after Mojela also revealed he would prefer a move to Chloorkop following his breakthrough season in the elite division.
Mojela scored seven goals in 34 matches from all competitions during the past campaign, missing just three league fixtures in total.
The striker was also instrumental in Galaxy’s run to reach the Carling Black Label Cup final in December, where they – coincidentally – lost to Stellenbosch on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Speaking on Metro FM’s Sport Night Amplified with host Andile Ncube last month, Mojela reflected on his debut season and was asked where he wanted to play next.
“I really want to play for Mamelodi Sundowns, but for now I am focused on TS Galaxy because that is where I am contracted. I am focused on my current job, but if it were up to me that’s where I would go – it will depend on the chairman [Tim Sukazi],” he said.
SABC Sport understands Sundowns are yet to make a formal approach, but are definitely interested in the attacker.
