The side from the Winelands is made up mostly of young players who have since gained experience together in the topflight and are now through to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup having crushed Matsatsantsa on Saturday afternoon.
Barker says Stellies should be given more praise.
''I don't think enough credit is given to these players, it's 21 games unbeaten, 16 wins, we're on 40 goals scored and 10 conceded.
''I think they deserve to be in another semifinal, this team has matured, they have grown and they have developed - we showed quality with the ball,'' said Barker.
Stellenbosch already have the Carling Black Label Cup in their trophy cabinet this season and are aiming for the double, while also chasing runners-up spot in the DStv Premiership with eight games to go.
Barker adds that their display against SuperSport was memorable.
''We obviously started very well, from the third goal we had control over the game. When I look at a performance like this one, we beat a team of SuperSport Unit calibre - you look at the players they have, they are full of quality. We pulled a good performance, scored 4 goals and didn't concede,'' added Barker.
With Anicet Oura, Devin Titus, Andre de Jong and Iqraam Rayners all getting on the score sheet to blow SuperSport away, Barker said this was arguably one of the best matches in his time at the club.
''I do think so, in terms of the quality we showed throughout the 90 minutes, I think today was a full package,'' he concluded.
It was also the character of the side that had Barker in awe.
