The experienced mentor has taken over the hot seat from Musa Nyatama and his appointment naturally comes with high expectations.
Mogashoa has explained to SABC Sport what mandate he’s set for Komphela.
"Long term I'm expecting him to keep the club in the premier division. Obviously, we finished in the 8th position. So, I want them to finish on the 8th or up, I don't want it to go down. I'm expecting him to make sure that the club is now solid, we don't fight relegation, we are a club that competes for cups. We are in the top 8, his first game is against Sundowns, so no pressure," Mogashoa said.
Komphela, who ended his stint with Mamelodi Sundowns as a member of the technical team alongside coach Rulani Mokwena, has been given the green light by Mogashoa on player movements.
"The market is a bit slow and also if you look at our position, we finished on a very good position that means our players are good. So, there is no need to change players or sign new players every time a window opens," he added.
"Obviously, we have to beef up here and there, so now that we've got a coach, we know that coach Steve is in, he now has to reevaluate everyone and make a decision on who he's keeping and who is going."
The PSL have yet to officially release the fixtures for the new season, but according to the leaked schedule, Komphela’s first league game in charge is away to Golden Arrows on 5 August.
Mogashoa has promised to be patient with the coach.
"No, definitely that's one of the things that we said to coach Steve that we will support him as a club. We are not coaches, ours is to support the coach and make sure that the coach delivers for the club and the supporters. Because this thing was done quick, quick he's on a season plus an option, so there is an option to renew for a longer term."
