With a time difference of +7 hours, Banyana ba Style will take to the field at 03h00 on Thursday, 15 August 2024 – South African time.
In the other clash of the four-team competition, Spain’s Atletico Madrid will tackle Vissel Kobe of Japan in a curtain raiser at 17h00 local time (Wednesday midnight, SA Time).
The winners are set to face off in the final at 03h00 on Sunday, 18 August - SA Time, while the third-place play-off will kick off at midnight on Saturday, SA Time (17h00 local time).
Each team will only play two games, which will be held at the iconic, state of the art CPKC Stadium in Kansas City.
Sundowns Ladies, record five-time league winners in South Africa, are the first African team to be invited to the Women’s Cup.
Almost at the halfway mark of the 2024 Hollywoodbets Super League season, the Brazilians currently top the log standings on 35 points, just one ahead of second-placed University of Johannesburg Ladies, while the University of the Western Cape is third on 29. This is the fourth year of the Women’s Cup, with the first two editions played in the US, while the third was held in Europe. In February this year, another event took place in Cali, Colombia.
“The 2024 U.S. tournaments are part of the new TWC Global Series, played in different locations. Champions of each event will be invited to the Global Series Finals in February at a venue yet to be announced,” said the organisers in a statement.
