The former Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United forward has undergone a medical with the Tshwane side and it is expected he will beef up coach Gavin Hunt’s attack this season.
With some delays in opening up a foreign slot to make room for Samir Nurkovic, who was also in advanced talks to put pen to paper outside the window period, SuperSport have looked to Morris as another quick solution.
The 30-year-old became available on the market after leaving Babina Noko at the end of last season, in which he only featured in eight games.
Matsatsantsa have been looking at several options following the long-term injury to their all-time top goal scorer Bradley Grobler, who is only expected back from a groin operation in January.
Hunt has been outspoken about the need to get in a replacement with SuperSport relying heavily on Terrence Dzvukamanja and a few of their Diski Challenge graduates since the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
Nurkovic surprisingly agreed to a mutual termination of his contract with TS Galaxy last month despite scoring 10 goals in 29 matches and his camp had made it clear the Serbian’s preference was to stay in SA.
His potential move to SuperSport has not yet been announced, and with Morris arriving at the club for a medical this week it suggests the deal could be off.
Morris will get to start a new chapter with Hunt and hope to hit the ground running, although with a lack of match fitness the technical team is likely to ease him back slowly into action.
