The Buccaneers finished runners-up behind Mamelodi Sundowns in the league but twice defeated their Tshwane rivals to clinch both the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.
Monyane added he’d rate Pirates’ campaign a “solid 8/10”.
"Looking at this season, it's been a rollercoaster of a season. We know we've had our ups and downs. If one was to sum up the season, I'd give ourselves a sold eight. We managed to defend our cups and we are quite happy about that," Monyane said.
Monyane played seven matches more for Pirates this season than the previous one, insisting that this was another personal milestone.
"Obviously, looking at the previous season of which I've been featuring and looking at this season again there is progress and I'm just happy that I'm able to grow as a player. I'm able to be more mature coming into the games and I'm looking forward to next season," he added.
Part of Pirates enjoying a good run despite being 23 points adrift of Sundowns is that their players get recognised by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.
Monyane still hopes to break into the national team.
"Last season, you know it was Bafana and that was one thing I was looking forward to. So, that means there's progress and even though I might not see it and people may not see it but there's progress always and that's what I'm looking always forward to improving each and every game of which I step on the field and that's the main objective."
