Manager Ange Postecoglou expressed immense pride in the team's achievement, particularly highlighting the growth and resilience of the young players who have been pivotal this season.
Postecoglou, after the match, reflected on the campaign, saying, "It's been a pretty good European campaign for us. We have had to deal with some adversity in it. Even the first game we played here, I remember we were down to 10 men after about 10 minutes.
"We have dealt with it pretty well considering the group we have got. We are through to the round of 16 and have missed the play-off game which gives us a couple of more weeks to get players back."
The match against Elfsborg was crucial for Spurs, not just for the result but for the performance of their academy graduates. All three goals were scored by young talents from Tottenham's youth system, underlining the club's commitment to nurturing homegrown players.
Postecoglou praised this effort, noting, "I just said it was Made in Tottenham tonight. It's brilliant for the club and I'm sure there are academy coaches and players who won't sleep tonight because they are pretty excited."
The scoring was initiated by Dane Scarlett, who capitalized on a brilliant delivery from Dejan Kulusevski to head in his first goal for the senior team.
Later, debutant Damola Ajayi doubled the lead with a well-taken shot after good interplay with Scarlett.
The night was capped off by Mikey Moore, who scored his first Spurs goal in stoppage time, highlighting the promising future for Tottenham's youth.
Despite the joy of this European success, Tottenham's focus must quickly shift back to the Premier League, where they have been struggling, having not won in their last seven matches.
However, this victory in Europe provides a positive note, especially with the return of key players from injury, boosting the squad's morale and depth.
Elfsborg, on the other hand, were left to rue their missed opportunities and an inferior goal difference that saw them narrowly miss out on the play-off round. Their defensive resilience was tested, but ultimately, they couldn't keep Tottenham at bay.
This match not only underlined Tottenham's tactical resilience and youth development but also set the stage for what could be an exciting knockout phase in the Europa League, with fans and players alike looking forward to the challenges ahead.
