Tottenham surge past Brentford in Premier League with late drama

The win, which Ange Postecoglou described as a crucial step forward, has lifted spirits at the club after a challenging spell.

Postecoglou, reflecting on the match, said, "It was great for the supporters, great for the players too, because they're all hurting, you know, the players are hurting as well."

Postecoglou praised his squad's effort, noting, "It's still the same group of players doing Thursday, Sunday. You can't get away from that fact... playing Thursday, Sunday, consistently without being able to rotate takes its toll."

He also highlighted the return of some key players as a positive sign, "We got Micky back on Thursday night, we got Djed back in today, signing Kevin, at least the group now, I think are getting some sort of encouragement and energy."

This win marks only the second league victory in Tottenham's last twelve matches under Postecoglou, with the team now sitting in 14th place, a significant shift from the relegation worries that had begun to loom.

For Brentford, this defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium is their fifth game without a win, pushing their European aspirations further out of reach.

As the season progresses, Tottenham will look to build on this momentum, with Postecoglou confident that his team can improve their standing, "We've got some massive opportunities as well in the back half of the year, so important because we have to improve in the league."
