Gabuza joined The Rockets on a free transfer in July last year, having left SuperSport United after four seasons a month prior.
The public broadcaster understands the 36-year-old, who spent six seasons with Orlando Pirates between 2013 and 2019, requested his clearance over a lack of game-time since his arrival.
Gabuza had managed just four starts and four substitute appearances, and hasn't gotten any minutes since Galaxy's 1-0 loss to Moroka Swallows on 8 November last year.
During this period, the league also took a six-week recess due to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire, where Bafana Bafana earned with a bronze medal.
It's thought that 'Ganda Ganda' feels, at his age, he could ill afford to be sitting on the sidelines as his career clock begins to wind down.
The former Bafana forward, who tallied four goals in 12 national team appearances, will now be free to join the club of his choice, but has been allowed to continue training with the KwaNdebele-based side until he finds his next destination.
With only three months remaining in the 2023/24 campaign, it remains to be seen where Gabuza could end up before May.
Perhaps a significant factor in his favour is that he is immediately available to feature for any team in the Nedbank Cup, as he is not cup tied after not playing any part in Sead Ramovic's side's 2-1 round of 32 victory over Arrows at the weekend.
