The Rockets have picked up form in the second round of the season, securing four straight wins in five games, which has catapulted them up to fourth place on the log with 52 points – just four behind third-placed University of Johannesburg.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Makhabane believes it is possible to finish strong if they focus on maintaining their winning momentum.
"We are aiming for second position, but it's going to take hard work, dedication and determination – but the most important thing is to maintain our momentum and focus on each of our remaining matches," said Makhabane.
"We know it's not going to be easy, but we need to play as a team, stick to what we know and follow coach Sibiya's instructions for us to get wherever we want to get."
TS Galaxy is left with five matches in the campaign, with their next assignment against TUT Matsatsatsa FC at Kwanyamazane Stadium in Mpumalanga on Sunday afternoon.
Makhabane is expecting a tough encounter but their aim is to win at home.
"For tomorrow, we are expecting a very tough match – TUT is not an easy team, we played against them in the first round and won 2-0, and scored [both goals] in the second half," she noted.
"So we know what their capabilities are, we know what they can bring to us, so we're just going to fight and make sure we come out victorious."
