TS Galaxy return to winning ways with Cape Town City win

TS Galaxy bounced back to winning form in the Betway Premiership with a 2-0 triumph over Cape Town City at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After two consecutive draws, Galaxy were eager to return to winning ways, and goals from Samukelo Kabini and Dzenan Zajmovic ensured they earned all three points on the day.

The match began with a bright start for TS Galaxy, who dominated possession in the opening 10 minutes. Kabini and Victor Letsoalo were particularly prominent in the attack, making their presence felt in the opposition's half.

The Rockets remained the more proactive side midway through the first half, while Cape Town City seemed content to sit back and defend. Despite the dominance, neither team was able to create significant scoring chances by the 30-minute mark, and the game slowed down under the scorching 32°C Mbombela heat.

Although Kamogelo Sebelebele and Mlungisi Mbunjana tested City's goal with long-range shots, it was Galaxy who broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. Following a corner kick, Kabini latched onto the ball in the 18-yard box and fired a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Darren Keet to give the home side the lead.

The Rockets doubled their advantage just before halftime when Zajmovic joined Kabini on the scoresheet. After a well-executed move forward, the Bosnian striker calmly slotted the ball home with a left-footed finish.

In complete control, Galaxy continued to dominate possession into the second half, while City struggled to create any real chances. As the game wore on, the visitors made several substitutions in an attempt to become more offensive, but the Rockets held firm, defending with resolve and purpose.

Ultimately, TS Galaxy did enough to see out the match, securing a vital 2-0 victory on home turf.
