SuperSport will host Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium, with the two teams in contrasting form. Matsatsantsa have suffered three consecutive league defeats, including a 2-1 loss to AmaZulu on Saturday, while Sundowns are on a dominant run, securing their eighth consecutive win in the Premiership after a 4-0 thrashing of Golden Arrows on Sunday.
The match carries significant implications for the title race, with leaders Sundowns likely keeping an eye on Orlando Pirates' match against Sekhukhune United at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Sundowns' impressive form has been driven by the influence of coach Miguel Cardoso, whose arrival has energized the team in their pursuit of an eighth consecutive league title.
"The coach came with a lot of energy, and that is rubbing off on the players," said senior player Mothobi Mvala. "He is a winner, and Sundowns always want to win everything. We have quality players who adjust quickly to the coach's philosophy, and that's what helps us win and get results. We just need to keep pushing forward, knowing that there is still room for improvement."
Mvala also highlighted the team's focus on continuous improvement, adding, "The coach is working hard at training, and the guys do a debrief after every game to address mistakes and areas where we could have done better. We're heading in the right direction."
Other midweek fixtures include Kaizer Chiefs looking to recover from their recent Soweto derby loss when they host AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, bottom-of-the-table Magesi FC will be desperate to end an 11-game winless streak as they face Chippa United at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Richards Bay, aiming to distance themselves from the relegation playoff zone, will welcome Marumo Gallants to King Zwelithini Stadium.
On Wednesday, Cape Town City and Golden Arrows will both seek to avoid a third consecutive defeat in all competitions when they meet at Athlone Stadium. High-flying Polokwane City, currently third on the log and unbeaten in their last seven league matches, will take on in-form TS Galaxy, who are 10 games unbeaten across all competitions, at Mbombela Stadium.
Polokwane coach Phuti Mohafe is pleased with his team's defensive efforts, saying, "What we are doing defensively, we are doing a great job. The only thing we need to master now is putting the ball in the back of the net."
One match has been postponed, with Royal AM, who were set to host Stellenbosch FC, still suspended from playing due to ongoing financial and administrative issues.
