As league champions in Egypt, AS FAR qualified directly for the continental competition as North Africa’s representative, however, they were elevated to being the host team when CAF announced Morocco as the venue for the tournament host. In their second match, Sundowns Ladies will then face Central Bank of Ethiopia (CBE FC) on Wednesday 10 November (16h00 SA Time). The South Africans conclude their group stage assignment when they tackle Nigeria’s Edo Queens on Saturday, 16 November at 19h00 SA Time.
It will be the first time Sundowns Ladies play any of the teams in their group.
Only the top two sides in each group will advance to the last four: First in A facing Second in B, and Second in A taking on First in B. The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday, 19 November with the matches set for 16h00 and 19h00 South African time.
There will be a third-place play-off on Friday, 22 November at 19h00 SA Time in El Jadida.
The battle for gold will ensue the following day (Saturday, 23 November) also at the M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida. Kickoff is at 19h00 SA Time)
Sundowns Ladies have won this tournament on two occasions - the inaugural edition in 2021 and last year’s competition. In between, AS FAR lifted the trophy in 2022, defeating the Brazilians in the final.
