Valladolid part ways with Diego Cocca after just eight games

Real Valladolid have dismissed manager Diego Cocca after only eight games in charge, the La Liga club have confirmed.

The decision comes as the team sits at the bottom of the standings, following a streak of five consecutive losses.

Cocca, who was appointed on December 14 with a contract running until the end of the season, managed to secure just one win during his tenure. Alvaro Rubio, the reserve team coach, will take over as interim manager for the second time this season.

Under Cocca, Valladolid suffered six league defeats, including a heavy 4-0 loss at home to Sevilla on Sunday. Additionally, the team was knocked out of the Copa del Rey by third-tier side Ourense CF in the round of 32 last month.

Paulo Pezzolano was fired in November after a 5-0 defeat at home to Atlético Madrid, having won just two of 15 league matches. Rubio briefly took charge, winning two of his three games, before Cocca replaced him.

Promoted to La Liga last season under Pezzolano, Valladolid now sit on 15 points after 24 games, eight points behind Las Palmas, who are 17th and just outside the relegation zone. They are set to face Athletic Club on Sunday.
