Vincent Kompany says Harry Kane blow forces Bayern Munich to adapt

Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Harry Kane would miss several games after suffering a muscle injury during Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Speaking on Monday ahead of Bayern's DFB-Pokal clash with Bayer Leverkusen, Kompany admitted the England captain's absence would be a significant challenge but expressed optimism about managing the setback.

Kompany revealed that Kane had sustained a minor muscle fibre tear and remained uncertain about the striker's exact return date. However, the Bayern boss was hopeful Kane could be back before the end of the year.

"There's a chance he'll play again this year," Kompany stated during the press conference. "He'll definitely miss a few games."

Kane, who has already netted 20 goals this season, has been instrumental in Bayern's campaign, and his injury leaves a considerable void in attack. Kompany acknowledged the difficulty of directly replacing a player of Kane's calibre but highlighted the depth of talent within the squad.

"You can't replace him one-to-one. He's a top player. But we'll solve things differently," Kompany explained.

"There will be no lack of talent tomorrow. We have several options, Thomas Muller, Mathys Tel, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise, Leroy Sane. Maybe not Kingsley Coman in that position, but we have players who score goals, including Jamal (Musiala)."

Despite Kane's absence, Kompany expressed confidence in Bayern's ability to compete. "Harry has scored 20 goals. You can't replace that, but we have enough players who can fulfil the role."

Bayern will host Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night, with fans eager to see how the team adjusts without their star striker.
