Pirates came back from behind yesterday to beat Cape Town City 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium.
Just after 21 minutes, City took the lead through Hashim Domingo’s goal, and Pirates had to wait for Tshegofatso Mabasa’s second-half equaliser.
They needed a late goal, and Goodman Mosele delivered three minutes before full-time and results are what matters most to Riveiro at the end.
"It's clearly is the key for us during the season in terms of what we are achieving in terms of results, performances, the quality of the display is not a question. I think everybody knows that they are good enough to play in this club, to challenge for each and every title, to perform in the way that they are doing,” Riveiro said.
“The key is to do it every day, today was not a bad game on our side but it was one of those games that, was not looking nice, you are not going to win the game playing beautiful but still you have to look for the result."
Pirates are still 12 points behind log leaders and points machine Mamelodi Sundowns, with 36 points to the Brazilians’ 48.
But Bucs still have three games in hand and will be looking to make it count. Riveiro emphasises the fighting spirit within his team, that nothing is impossible.
"We're fortunate to have a striker like Evidence [Makgopa] on the bench also to come in with Tshego [Tshegofatso Mabasa] to keep Gordhino [Lorenzo] and Fasika [Nathan] in those last 15 minutes and giving more space for some other options in the box or arrivals,” the coach added.
“I mean everyone is really committed, we are having a tough season in terms of games, trainings, travelling and we're learning a lot from that. I said to the guys now that all of those things that are happening to us during the season are helping to develop a decent level of resilience.
“You can see that whatever happens in the game for us, the team never gave up so far."
