Nabi was speaking after watching his team suffer their ninth defeat in 22 Betway Premiership matches this season, going down 2-0 to relegation-threatened Richards Bay FC at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi yesterday.
Nabi and his technical team’s arrival at Chiefs was met with a lot of hope at the start of the season, but inconsistency in results has been one of their biggest challenges, with the Tunisian mentor saying they at least know what they are looking for.
"It's true that we are in the process of rebuilding the team, and a big team like Kaizer Chiefs is not rebuilt in six or seven months, we need more time than that," said Nabi.
"But the only thing we know is exactly what we need, and where we need it, to have a better team or better club.
"It's not only because we are losing today or that we are winning tomorrow that we'll say the opposite, we have to emphasise that we are in the building process and we know exactly what we need."
Given their blunt attack against the Natal Rich Boyz, Nabi defended that he never said they wanted a proper number-9 to lead their attack, but clarified what he was talking about.
"I didn't say that I'm looking for a no. 9, I said that we were lacking physicality and height in the no. 9 position and we feel that probably with the absence of [Tashreeq] Morris or Ranga [Chivaviro], maybe [having them available] could have helped," he added.
"But for this game, it doesn't mean that a no. 9 could have resolved all the issues today because we should have been more clinical in the final third, we should have had more shots against a low block, and that's it."
