Williams to return to full training

Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United captain Ronwen Williams will return to training next week after going under the knife.

The 30-year-old was injured last month in their 2-0 victory over AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership match.

The shot-stopper who missed the goalless draw against Stellenbosch has indicated that his injury is not as scary as he had initially thought.

œAt the moment I am busy doing my rehab. I had a arthroscopy on my right knee -I had a piece of meniscus removed, so I™m gonna be out for few days it™s not as serious as initially thought so I will back in full training probably by next week. I™ve started with my rehab and everything went well so far said Williams

The three league-time champions lost their coach Kaitano Tembo due a string of poor results, and Williams says the players should shoulder the blame.

œOur season, one would have a lot of disappointments, one of the disappointments was losing our coach, that was obviously down to us as players we let him down in many occasions, we did not have the right mentality, the right work ethics throughout the season William went on

Williams believes the selling of key player Teboho Mokoena to Mamelodi Sundowns in the middle of the season and injuries within the club weakened his side.

œWe lost a lot of key players as well, I mean we hardly Bradley (Grobler) fit this season. We lost Teboho Mokoena halfway through the season, as well as Simpho Mbule™s problem yah those are three key players who were not available for this season, obviously we did replace them Williams explained

With three games to go before the end of the season, SuperSport are in eighth place with 36 points from 27 games. They play host to struggling Swallows at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville tonight at 19:30.
