Los Blancos emerged victorious with a 4-0 victory in the second leg encounter at Camp Nou on Wednesday night in front of around 94,000 fans.
Despite the absence of four starters, Xavi refused to use that as an excuse for their loss. He admitted that Real were superior and had taken advantage of the key moments of the game. Vinicius Junior scored the opening goal in the first-half, and Karim Benzema scored a second-half hat-trick to seal Real Madrid's spot in the final.
Speaking to Diario AS after the match, Xavi said, "When football is so evenly matched, you have to take advantage of the moments. We didn't do it in the first half, and they did in the second. They have been superior, no excuses. It is a difficult defeat to digest."
Xavi went on to emphasize that his team needs to learn from their mistakes and from Real Madrid. "We have to learn to compete better. They are the League and Champions League champions, and they do not forgive. When you don't kill Madrid, they kill you. We have to learn from our mistakes in the future."
Xavi also highlighted the importance of taking advantage of key moments in football, saying, "From my point of view, it is a tough result, but we have to focus on the League, and there can be no arguments that they are a great team."
Barcelona will face Girona on Monday night, hoping to increase their lead at the top of the La Liga table. While the team will be disappointed with their performance against Real, they will need to focus on the lessons learned and move forward with determination.
