This is the view of Nabi’s former boss and young Africans (Yanga), President Engineer Hersi Said, who spoke to SABC Sport on Monday.
A Tunisian-Belgian coach, Nabi spent two years in Tanzania and won back-to-back league titles.
He finally arrived at the Chiefs pre-season camp in Turkey yesterday and joined the rest of his technical team today as they knuckled down to business.
Hersie emphasizes the support that Nabi is going to need at Chiefs.
"So, we picked him when he was a coach at Al-Merrikh. He didn't stay longer at Al-Merrikh then he came to Tanzania. We gave him much more support as a coach, from the management, from club level, we gave him much more support for him to do his work and he did well,” Hersi said.
“So, I'm sure if he can get maximum support here as well, he can do wonders. For me, he's a coach that can also give you results on the pitch and a good coach as well in terms of making plans for the game. So, technically he's good but he needs a lot of support as well for him to do well."
Chiefs fans are desperate to end the nine-year trophy drought that has engulfed the club and reduced them to a midtable team in the DStv Premiership.
During Nabi’s reign at Yanga, they also signed top players from DRC for him, including Fiston Mayele, Stephen Aziz Ki—who was bought from Asec Mimosas—former TP Mazembe left-back Khalid Aucho, and Malian international goalkeeper Dijugui Diarra. Hersi says it’s important that Nabi’s project is supported by the signing of good players for it to succeed.
"This is exactly what I was mentioning yes, the support. Support has to come and it's very important for him to get that support for him to do his best. Yes, we signed very good players at that time and he managed to win everything in the country during his time,” he added.
“Unfortunately, when he went to Rabat maybe he missed the cup and the league but he's a good coach who needs to be supported as well for him to do well here. So, I take this opportunity to wish him all the best but also the Kaizer Chiefs and management fans to give him support for him to do well."
