The 21-year-old powered the Brazilians to a 1-0 victory at Orlando Stadium, securing their record-breaking 15th consecutive win in the DStv Premiership.
Though Mokwena acknowledged Mailula's Man of the Match-winning goal, he emphasized the need for continued improvement.
"Don't just watch the goal, watch his overall contribution," coach Mokwena said. "There's still so much to improve, especially in terms of decision making."
Mailula, who joined the Sundowns academy in 2016 and made his senior debut in September 2022, has made a sensational start to his professional career with 10 goals and three assists in 16 appearances.
Despite extending their lead at the top of the Premiership table to 23 points, Sundowns have no time to rest with two games in hand for second-placed SuperSport United and third-placed Richards Bay.
Next up for Mokwena's squad is a Nedbank Cup match against Richards Bay on Tuesday.
