IPL: Aiden Markram continues fine form but Lucknow Super Giants fall to defeat

Aiden Markram continued his fine form but it was not enough to help Lucknow Super Giants as they fell to an eight-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals in their IPL clash on Tuesday.

Proteas T20 captain Markram top-scored with 52 from 33 balls, his fourth fifty of the 2025 IPL campaign, as the Super Giants posted a total of 159-6 in their 20 overs.

Markram added 87 with Australia international Mitchell Marsh (45 from 36 balls) for the first wicket but the Super Giants could not kick on from the platform that was set by the opening pair.

The only other contributor of note came late in the innings when impact player Ayush Badoni struck 36 off 21 deliveries while David Miller was unbeaten on 15.

The best bowler on display for the Capitals was India seamer Mukesh Kumar, who picked up wickets at regular intervals during the middle overs to finish with figures of 4-33 in his four overs.

The Capitals then made light work of the run-chase as opener Abishek Porel, 51 from 36 balls, and KL Rahul, 57 not out from 42 deliveries, both struck fifties.    Markram tried his best to get his team back into the contest when the off-spinner removed Porel and Karun Nair (15) for figures of 2-30 but Rahul and his Delhi skipper Axar Patel (34 not out) saw their team over the line with more than two overs to spare.
