Proteas, Australia share points after Champions Trophy clash is abandoned

The Proteas and Australia were forced to share the points from their Group B clash at the ICC Champions Trophy after the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain in Rawalpindi.

Both teams take one point from the encounter which means both teams remain unbeaten after two matches after the Proteas beat Afghanistan and Australia saw off England.

If Australia and South Africa win their final group matches, against Afghanistan and England respectively, they will progress to the semi-finals.

With the match rained out and no toss or final XIs named, it gives the Proteas extra time to assess the availability of Heinrich Klaasen ahead of their final group match against England in Karachi on Saturday.

Klaasen missed the first game of the tournament due to an elbow injury and remained a doubt for the clash against the Aussies but should now be fit to take his place against the England.
