Rhodes overcame a strong challenge from South Africa’s Casandra Alexander to close off with a top score of 71 on 14 under par.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Rhodes says being patient and focusing on herself was a key to securing the championship.
"I just didn't think I had focused on my pace and my walk and made sure I didn't get faster to try and get it over and done with, and yeah, I just tried to stay patient honestly," Rhodes said.
Rhodes picked up an injury during the course of the three-day tournament.
She says it’s due to the rainy weather conditions in Johannesburg but glad it didn’t stop her from the main goal.
"I think it honestly came on from the rain and the cold. I had some medicine this morning and it honestly distracted me from all the nerves. So, honestly, I'm kind of grateful that it came up but hopefully with some rest, I'll be back fine," she added.
The 24-year-old had this to say when she unpacked her day-three performance.
"I just played really steady and solid golf, I didn’t make many bogey’s out there and my passing wasn't the best today but for the whole week, I'm really happy with my putting and all areas of my game and especially my mental game, that I was able to stay focused and relaxed. I'm just excited to keep playing."
