Netball South Africa extends the contract of CEO Modiegi Komane until November 2025

Netball South Africa (NSA) president Cecilia Molokwane confirmed to SABC Sport that the federation has renewed Chief Executive Officer Modiegi Komane's contract for an additional year.

Komane's previous contract, which expired on 31 October, has been extended to ensure continuity as NSA prepares to elect a new board next year.

Instead of the usual four-year term, Komane was granted a one-year extension, allowing the incoming executive to decide on her longer-term future. With the contract now finalized, Komane can resume her duties as NSA's CEO.

''The contract is extended until next year November. We are going to quadrennial next year and we hope that the people that will be elected will be good that they work with her up to fours. Remember she came in after Blanche left and it was in the middle of the four years, so to be fair to ourselves let's give the people that will be elected next year - to say go and do what you want to do with the person, she has been doing good. I don't see any reason not to continue with her,'' said Molokwane.

Molokwane told the national broadcaster that Modiegi, who succeeded Blanche de la Guerre after her decade-long tenure with NSA, has introduced significant changes to the federation. She expressed her satisfaction with the CEO's efforts and contributions.

''A lot of changes, a lot of things done and if we were not happy as Netball South Africa, we wouldn't have renewed. We will be turning netball professional in 2025, maybe that is the other reason for us to say, let her see this job done, which is one of the reasons we renewed. The mandate stays the same,'' added Molokwane.

Molokwane discussed the responsibilities of the CEO role, highlighting that she has been granted the freedom to perform her duties independently, without any interference.
