The event, set to take place in Nanjing over the weekend, will see Sekgodiso travel alongside Akani Simbine, Cheswill Johnson, and Marione Fourie for the two-day competition.
Among them, Johnson is the only athlete with prior experience at the World Indoor Championships, while the others will be making their debuts.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Sekgodiso expressed her excitement and optimism, stating that securing a spot in the finals would be a satisfying achievement as she heads to China full of confidence.
"Well, my target is to just be in the final and anything in the final can happen but a medal is what I'm looking for as well. I'm just gonna train, all my eyes are on the World Indoor Champs, I'm just gonna keep the form and maintain the fitness. I'm not gonna race too much until September," Sekgodiso said.
The 23-year-old has developed a strong passion for indoor events and is finding herself enjoying them more than outdoor competitions as she prepares for the upcoming event in China.
"There is no wind, first of all, I just love the atmosphere, spectators are just here in your ear. I just love the track, it's short and it's fun," she added.
The Limpopo-born athlete set a new national indoor record of 1:59.88 in France last month, breaking the mark twice.
Now, she is determined to lower it even further at the upcoming world event in China.
"Well, the experience was amazing like I said. The two records come on, I went there with that mentality of breaking the SA record because it was just 02:06:00 so it's been there for nothing so I broke it and I came back with the SA record and yeah, now heading to the world indoor Champs hoping to break another SA record."
