Bok lock injury woes worsen as Salmaan Moerat ruled out of November internationals

The Springboks have received another injury blow to their second row after the Stormers confirmed that Salmaan Moerat will miss the November internationals.

Moerat will miss the upcoming end-of-year Test matches against Scotland, England, and Wales due to knee surgery.

The 26-year-old recently led the Springboks in Tests against Portugal, Australia, and Argentina but was unable to participate in the rematch against Los Pumas in Nelspruit.

Stormers assistant coach Dawie Snyman announced that Moerat is anticipated to return for the coastal derby against the Sharks in Durban on 30 November.

"Salmaan isn't available for next week's game [against Glasgow Warriors]," Snyman stated. "He will be available at the end of November."

"He had a small procedure; he's got a small injury."

Moerat's absence adds to the challenges facing South Africa's second-row depth, which has already been significantly affected by injuries this year. Lood de Jager and Franco Mostert are also set to miss the November Tests.

On a positive note, RG Snyman and Jean Kleyn have returned to action for Leinster and Munster, respectively, and are vying for their own comebacks from injury.

Meanwhile, the Stormers report a clean bill of health as they prepare for their first home game of the season against Munster in Cape Town on Saturday.
