Sharks eye Currie Cup revenge on Griquas

Sharks Currie Cup coach Joey Mongalo claims they are ready to exact revenge on the Griquas when they meet in the eighth round of the competition in Durban on Saturday.

The losing 2022 finalists beat the Durban side at home in the second week of the competition, before dispatching both the Golden Lions away and the Griffons at home in their last two matches.

Despite the obvious threat, Mongalo believes they have the right support to take this one over the line.

"They're coming off two good wins as well, so that's quite a feat to win two or three games in a row in this tough Currie Cup schedule, so they'll be full of confidence," said Mongalo.

"They beat us quite comfortably away from home, even though we led 28-10, I think it was, they had a great second half and beat us quite comfortably.

"I think that's probably the one game where I'd say we didn't play well this year. The other games we lost against the Lions and the Bulls were all games that we were in the game, I think, within a score of winning either one of those games in the last five minutes.

"So we'll know that it's a challenge [on Saturday] but we're still at home, we love playing at home and we love it when the people of Durban come and watch us play at home.

"So, we always want to put together good performances everywhere, but especially at home in front of our friends and families that matter to us."
