Mapimpi, 34, remains a vital cog in the Sharks machine and still a useful member of the Bok squad.
A two-time world champion, the Eastern Cape-born speedster is the only South African to score a try in a Rugby World Cup final in the 2019 showpiece tournament - a campaign in which he dotted down six times.
In the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Mapimpi scored a hat-trick against Romania but unfortunately was sidelined for the remainder of the tournament with a facial injury.
After stints at the Border Bulldogs, Southern Kings and the Cheeetahs, the speedster joined the Sharks in 2018 and has scored 37 tries in 80 appearances at the Durbanites.
His record at international level is staggering with 32 tries in 46 appearances. It makes him the most prolific Bok try-scorer yet in the post-apartheid era with a strike rate of 70 percent, compared to Bryan Habana's strike rate of 54 percent.
Mapimpi's experience is vital for the Sharks - playing a key role in the mentoring of younger wings like Ethan Hooker, Eduan Keyter, and Lili Bester.
