Usuthu were ruthless as goals from Dumisani Zuma, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Junior Dion and Bongi Ntuli put Amakhosi to the sword on a chastening evening for the Soweto giants.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Zuma produced a fine header from a corner that beat veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.
Chiefs responded by going on attack and were awarded a penalty when forward Ashley Du Preez was fouled by Abbubaker Mobara.
Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana stepped up but the striker could not add to his tally of seven league goals this seaosn as his rather tame spot-kick was saved by Veli Mothwa.
In the 37th minute, Usuthu doubled their lead after another Maluleka corner thi stime found the head of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who buried the chance.
The evening went from bad to worse for Amakhosi on the stroke of halftime when a terrible back pass from defender Edmilson Dove was intercepted by Junior Dion who scored for a 3-0 lead.
Chiefs came out with an attacking intent after the interval as Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Bimenyimana had efforts that were saved by Mothwa.
It was not to be for the Soweto giants in front of goal and Usuthu put the final nail in the coffin in injury time when Bonginkosi Ntuli rounded Itumeleng Khune to make it 4-0.
The brilliant result moved Amazulu up to fifth on the log, three points behind opponents Chiefs, who remain in fourth.
