Held at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Sale, Morocco on Friday night, the event was attended by the CAF President Patrice Motsepe and Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung, who is in the CAF Organizing Committee for Women’s Football Standing Committee.
South Africa is the highest ranked country in the world in their group on 50 and second on the continent followed by Ghana (66, 5), Mali (81, 9) and Tanzania (145, 27).
The Tanzanians will be making their second appearance in the competition since 2010 when it was held in South Africa, while Ghana and Mali make a return after missing out on the 2022 edition.
After South Africa, the Black Queens of Ghana are the most successful in Group A as they won silver in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
Hosts Morocco have been drawn in Group A alongside Zambia, Senegal and DR Congo, while nine-time champions Nigeria are in Group B and will face Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana in the group stages.
Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini was one of the draw assistants, along with retired CAF and FIFA referee Salima Mukansanga from Rwanda as well as former Moroccan international, Fatiha Laasiri.
The tournament is scheduled to be played from 5-26 July 2025 in Morocco.
