At the age of 29, the talented goalkeeper has reflected on what she considers an extraordinary year by her own standards.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Swart admitted that winning this accolade took her by surprise, especially in a year that she will always remember for her pivotal role in all four of Banyana’s FIFA World Cup matches.
“This year has been a roller coaster for me, filled with unexpected twists, the idea of participating in the World Cup was beyond my wildest imagination," said Swart.
"I want to dedicate this award to all the young girls who dream of guarding the goal and encourage them not to give up on their aspirations.
"The pinnacle of the year for me was the experience of playing in the World Cup. A moment I never thought possible."
Her performances in Australia and New Zealand led to Banyana's historic round of 16 qualification, marking a significant milestone in South African football history.
Meanwhile, her domestic award serves as the perfect conclusion to a truly remarkable year for Swart on a personal level.
“Being part of the league with my club JVW is a dream come true. I am truly grateful to everyone who supported me, especially during challenging times when criticism seemed to come from every direction," she added.
"My ultimate goal is to contribute to Banyana’s qualification for the Olympics, regardless of whether I am on the playing field or not."
