Barcelona's registration hopes dashed as legal setback mounts

Barcelona's struggles to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have deepened after the Court of First Instance rejected the club's plea for urgent measures.

This decision follows a similar ruling from the Commercial Court last week, leaving Barcelona without a legal pathway to secure the players' registrations for the second half of the season.

The court criticised Barcelona's argument, pointing out the irony of the club challenging La Liga rules they had previously supported.

In its statement, La Liga welcomed the ruling, reaffirming that its financial fair play regulations are being applied consistently.

Within the club, optimism over a judicial resolution was already low before this latest setback. Barcelona are now pinning their hopes on alternative financial strategies to resolve the situation.

One of the key options involves selling VIP boxes at the refurbished Spotify Camp Nou.

President Joan Laporta has reportedly reached an agreement with investors that could inject one hundred million euros into the club.

This cash injection is vital not only for registering Olmo and Victor but also for reinstating the club's 1:1 spending ratio, which would enable them to sign players more freely in the future.

"Barcelona are racing against time to finalise this deal," a source close to the matter has said. "The documentation, including proof of payment for the one hundred million euros, is being expedited to La Liga." The deadline for completing the process is midnight on 31 December 2024.

As a last resort, club directors could provide personal financial guarantees, but this option is considered unlikely due to the tight timeframe.

Barcelona fans now face an anxious wait as the club battles to overcome these challenges and secure the future of two promising talents.
