This comes after he confirmed having taken up the offer to be the head coach of The Rockets’ DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team ahead of the 2024/25 season. Parker, who has played in the Premier Soccer League, Dutch Eredivisie, and the Serbian League, is already preparing for his new role, with the 38-year-old ready to bring his wealth of experience and achievements to the touchline.
"Things right now, as it stands, I am officially the head coach of the DDC team, and hopefully I will be assisted by Vuyo Mere," said Parker.
"I'm thankful and grateful to the chairman of TS Galaxy, who's given us this opportunity. I'm definitely sure we will make an impact into the boys' lives, and we are happy and grateful to give back to the team."
Parker recently told SABC Sport he was considering a couple of options as he mulled over Galaxy president Tim Sukazi’s offer, but he says being loyal to the club and Sukazi has led him to this decision.
"There were a couple of offers in football, and in another capacity as well – maybe because of the qualifications that I've obtained over the years in Sports Management and Marketing, and currently I'm doing Sports Psychology," he added.
"So, I'm thankful to the football fraternity that has recognised the work I'm doing in football, for what I have done as a player as well, and it's really overwhelming for me to get offers from other clubs in other capacities.
"But I'm a loyal person – I stayed loyal to Galaxy because the chairman made a commitment to me, and I'd just like to repay him by giving good service in a coaching role."
